Quarter Finals:
The quarter-final draw for July 24th was: |
Widnes v Winnington Park, |
Bowdon v Timperley, |
Nantwich v Oulton Park and |
Macclesfield v New Brighton. |
The surprise of the round was the win by Macclesfield, from the Cheshire County League Division 1, over Liverpool Competition Premier League opponents New Brighton. |
The three Cheshire Premier League sides each won their ties, Oulton Park beating a fellow premier side in Nantwich. |
Semi Finals:
Bowdon and Oulton Park each won their semi-finals, against Widnes and Macclesfield repectively. Oulton Park won the toss for the final venue. |
FINAL:
In the final at Little Budworth on September 4th, Bowdon batted first in a bid to win the Cheshire Cup for the third consecutive year. |
However while each of their first five batsmen each got set, none could go on to make a big score and they finished on 190-9 after their 45 overs. |
When Oulton Park replied, Steve Selwood lead the way, thumping a fine 97 before being bowled by Chris Ashling. |
Oulton Park then coasted home to an eight wicket victory in the 34th over. |
Steve Selwood was made Man-of-the-Match having complimented his 97, with 4-26 in the middle of the Bowdon innings. |
